Jon recently worked with Popular Science Magazine to do some feature illustrations. The four posters were meant to showcase travel destinations that were off the beaten path. Geeky Getaways is featured in the May 2009 Issue.
WICHITA RIVER FESTIVAL
Wichita Kansas
Jon Arvizu from Trapdoor Studio worked with Associated Marketing in Wichita, KS. They contracted Trapdoor Studio to illustrate the poster artwork for the annual Wichita River Festival based on the 2009 theme “Get Your Groove On”. The illustration had to have a psychedelic feel reminiscent of rock posters from the 1960′s – 70′s, flashing back to a time of peace, love and turbulence. Following a few rounds of sketched concepts and initial computer illustrations, the client selected the guitar/Wichita skyline concept shown on the Wichita River Festival website.
